4 stars for Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser

A Manly Review

January 13, 2013
The product Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser is a pretty darn good facial cleanser. I have used it for the last 4 months and this is best facial cleanser I've used to date. I have used different types of cleansers in the past and most of them left my sensitive skin overly-dry and broken but using Aveeno at the beginning of the day and at end of the day (just before I went to sleep), it was always a refresher. As a guy I've had some irregular sleeping patterns sometimes even sleeping at like 1 or 2 am, even then using this product helped clean up the oil and dirt from the day. If you do not have a oily face, using this product may dry your face. Maybe it goes without saying but using the product more than twice a day may contribute to drying. It is an effective product none-the-less and is oil-free, noncomedeogenic (which means it doesn't block your pores with its lathery foam), and as much it looks like a soapy foam, it is soap-free and even sensitive enough for those who have allergies. It is effective at cleaning the face of dirt, oils and is even helpful with treating acne because of the salicylic acid.

What I liked

This Aveeno Clear Complexion as a product had some interesting things I've never seen before. In its packaging, it had an innovative backlabel that opens up to reveal drug facts and uses and directions. To my surprise, after multiple times of opening it, it still hasn't lost its "sticky-ness".

More on that label

Peeling the label on the back revealed active ingredients, Uses, Warnings and Directions. I thought it was a cool way to showcase a product with its information to the consumer. As far as I can tell this is some innovative label that doesn't feel sticky to the touch but sticks without coming off. Here below is the full back label.

How does it work and look?

When i first used it, I thought it was just plain foamy soap and kind of giggled that this little thing could clean my face and do all the things it claimed on the packaging. So first the picture below shows the pump. You squeeze the plastic pump to get a squert of something that looks like a little foam but its pretty effective. The only qualm I have with this is that sometimes the plastic pump gets jammed and stuck. You've to pull the pump up but it's not too much of a problem. This, in additon to the fact that on a non-oily day using this product on my face would leave it dry, were the reasons I gave it a 4/5.
